A graduate of SUNY-Albany (B.A.-education, cum laude) and of the University of Miami School of Law, Michael Rothman has been practicing law in South Florida for nearly three decades. As an associate with Ress, Gomez, Rosenberg, Howland and Mintz, P.A., and as a partner in the firm of Rosenberg & Rothman, P.A., Mr. Rothman concentrated his practice in the areas of civil litigation, banking and secured transactions, special assets workouts, and probate law. In 1994, Mr. Rothman and Michael S. Tobin formed Rothman & Tobin, P.A., which has remained in practice in its current Miami location since that time.

Mr. Rothman actively litigates cases in Florida state and federal courts, both on the trial and appellate levels, on a wide range of issues, including contested real estate matters, contract disputes, and commercial cases. Mr. Rothman has represented the Florida title insurance industry since 1996, and has handled thousands of title insurance claims for owners and lenders on issues ranging from agent fraud to boundary disputes. In 2009, Mr. Rothman became a Florida Supreme Court certified circuit court mediator, which has allowed him to utilize his extensive knowledge of the law and experience with the local courts to assist dozens of litigants in resolving their disputes outside of the courtroom.

Mr. Rothman is frequently retained as an expert on real estate closings, title insurance matters, and related issues, including insurance coverage and agent malpractice.  Since 2001, Mr. Rothman has been a regular lecturer for National Business Institute (NBI), and he has presented numerous articles, including How to Obtain Good Title in Real Estate Transactions; Identifying Defects and Finding Solutions, and Problems and Solutions to the Most Common Title Problems. Mr. Rothman has served as a presenter at The Fund Assembly, where he lectured on Ethical Considerations for the Real Estate Practitioner; for the Florida Land Title Insurance Association, where he spoke on Code Violations: What They Are and How to Deal With Them, and for the trial judges of the 11th Judicial Circuit, as a panelist in connection with their Continuing Judicial Education, where he addressed issues pertaining to homestead and spousal joinder.

Rothman & Tobin, P.A. has been recognized as a Fund Top 100 Agent, attesting to the high volume and large transactions that the firm has handled in both strong and weak economies. The firm enjoys the highest reputation among real estate practitioners, mortgage lenders, and brokers. Mr. Rothman has served as counsel and closing agent for Issa Homes, a luxury home builder in many of Florida’s most prestigious communities, including Weston, Celebration, Lake Nona, Abacoa, and Baldwin Park.

Mr. Rothman is married and resides in Weston, where he has raised two children. He is an avid reader and sports fan.
